Jill McDermottProgram Director

Jill is an accomplished talent and organization development leader with more than 25 years of experience designing, implementing and managing organizational design and change initiatives, talent development models and programs, employee engagement and performance programs. She is a recognized expert for building strong partnerships with individuals and teams and creating effective organizational strategies. Jill has strong interpersonal and influence skills in remote and matrix work environments.

Jill worked with the Thomson Reuters Corporation for 10 years as a leader in organization and talent management. She supported business leaders globally by assessing, designing and improving talent management, providing coaching and training for high potentials and executives, and creating custom learning solutions for executives, teams, and their business units.

Prior to her time with Thompson Reuters, Jill had a career with Aon Consulting and its predecessor organizations in leadership development and team building. Her clients included DuPont Fibers, Kraft Foods, Astra Merck Pharmaceuticals, and American Express.

Jill has a Business Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, specializing in Organizational Development.

Beverly HaysAdjunct Faculty

Bev Hays is founder and president of Inner Sense Consulting, a business dedicated to helping individuals, teams, and companies build success and thrive from the inside out.

As a life-long student and practitioner of yoga and meditation, she has studied with teachers and masters from around the world to sharpen her skills and deepen her understanding of contemplative processes that strengthen and balance the mind and body.

As a businesswoman, Bev has 38 years of leadership experience in marketing, branding, project management, and cross-functional team building; working for U.S. retailers Marshall Fields, Target, Lands’ End, and Sears.

Her broad range of experiences in store and corporate management has given Bev a deep insight into the heart of what challenges individuals on the job and in life. She leverages this insight and experience to provide a unique approach to mindfulness-based training techniques that create the balance, focus and resilience that transforms lives and helps businesses and individuals flourish.

Bev earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Shilagh MirgainFaculty

Dr. Shilagh Mirgain is a Health and Sport Psychologist at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. She received her undergraduate degree at Wellesley College, her Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Clinical and Community Psychology, completed her clinical internship at University of Wisconsin’s Department of Psychiatry and her postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University’s Department of Psychiatry.

A sought after speaker, leader and therapist, Dr. Mirgain is a frequent contributor to WMTV News in Madison, speaking on health, wellness and peak performance. Representing UW-Health, Dr. Mirgain writes and speaks on mind-body skills to foster optimal health. She is a regular contributor to BRAVA Magazine and authored the article Being Mindful in the August issue.

She provides public education through UW’s Active Hearts, the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women, and UW’s Active Living and Learning series. As a mentor and lecturer, she offers support and didactic training to interns, residents, faculty and staff, and state-wide organizations, and is a regular presenter at national conferences.

In her practice, Dr. Mirgain uses both individual and group formats to provide innovative and cost-effective programming for patients with a variety of medical conditions, adjustment issues and mood and anxiety disorders. Dr. Mirgain is a sport psychologist to UW Badger student athletes and developed the sport psychology program in the UW system, offering services for injury rehabilitation and peak performance training to athletes. As an integral part of the Mindfulness Meditation for Health research grant project at UW-Madison, she has led mindfulness meditation interventions and developed a manual for use with chronic pain populations. Her areas of expertise include cognitive behavioral interventions, mindfulness meditation and mind-body skills training.

Jane DolanAdjunct Faculty

Jane is owner and principal consultant of JEDInc Consulting. She helps individuals, teams and organizations to be their best. She coaches and consults with Fortune 500 companies and entrepreneurial start-ups alike. Her areas of expertise include talent and change management. She utilizes principles and models from intentional change theory, mindfulness, and leadership & organization effectiveness in helping her clients achieve their goals.

She has over 20 years of experience in the business world. Prior to starting her business, Jane worked for Rockwell Automation. There she led the change strategy and tactics for one of the company’s largest multi-year, global initiatives. She also has C-Suite experience supporting the company as they went through a functional reorganization. Throughout her years at Rockwell, she was a key player in the implementation of their performance based culture. She coached and developed leaders across the globe. Before Rockwell, Jane led the Human Resources functions for mid-size, privately held companies.

Jane has a Master’s of Business Administration from Marquette University. She received her Associate Certified Coach (ACC) accreditation from the International Coach Federation. In addition to her coaching and consulting work, Jane teaches at Marquette University and the executive programs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Michele NevarezAdjunct Faculty

Michele Nevarez, SPHR, HR Executive and Certified Frame of Mind Coach

Specializing in coaching highly-driven executives and professionals, Michele leverages what we know about the brain, EQ, and Resonant Leadership to help leaders develop resilience, focus, and self-awareness, while learning the importance of renewal.

Michele brings 20+ years of HR Leadership experience working for industry leaders in investigative services, healthcare, investment management, management consulting and manufacturing. A founding member of an international university based in Kathmandu, Nepal, Michele has practiced mindfulness-based training for 20+ years.

A thought-leader passionate about helping companies align business strategy and tactics to organizational purpose, Michele thrives in environments where pushing the boundaries of conventional thinking is the norm and breakthrough innovations lead the way through market shifts and transformation.

Michele received a B.A. in Religion from Bryn Mawr College and a Master of Science degree in Positive Organizational Development and Change from the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University.

Nancy NoelkeAdjunct Faculty

Nancy Noelke, MS, BS, has devoted her career to developing mindful leaders. In her current role as Senior Consultant for Talent Development at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin she leads all talent and succession processes. She is an accomplished organizational development innovator with over 20 years of experience designing and delivering leadership education and executive coaching. Nancy specializes in preparing physicians to lead within complex and ever-changing environments. In addition, she leads and teaches Revitalizing Care a physician and staff resiliency program.

She has been published in The Physician Executive, HR Magazine, Spirituality and Health Magazine and Global Advances in Health and Medicine and has been a featured speaker at the American Medical Group Association (AMGA) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Prior to her healthcare career, Nancy served in a variety of leadership and organizational development roles at Stanford University, the University of San Francisco and Macalester College.

As a graduate of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) and a certified trainer of the HeartMath Resilience Program, Nancy incorporates mindfulness practices into her classrooms and her life. One of her greatest passions is helping cultivate resilient and self-aware leaders who inspire others to meaningful action.
